Mandy's Dec 4th

Today is about creating a scene, and being resourceful (weeeell, trying to be!)
Dec 4th - it hailed....and even though the hail stones were little, there were a LOT of them...
(the funny thing was - on my last post post here , I mentioned that I didnt know what the subject of the next page would be, but 'something' would appear - LOL, never guessed it would be hail!)

Its the closest (here in Australia) to having a 'white' Christmas!  Squealing with delight with an idea, grabbed my little bottlebrush tiny Christmas trees, ran outside (in the hail) and planted them in the whiteness and took photos!  Must have been a silly sight!   'Only a scrapper' would do such a thing cowering over the little scene taking pics of mirco hail stones and little trees!
Thank goodness it was in our back garden!

Look at what you might have around you to set a 'scene' especially if you arent sure of what photo or subject to do for a page/day.  I know I was extremely lucky and grateful for it.
It could be a Nativity scene, or if you can get your hands on holly, or mistletoe, and a little bird,

Dec 3 & 4
Having a full photo (6x4) so show the detail more meant I could do a plastic sleeve.. only thing was - I didnt have any that size....  had to get resourceful!

 Had plenty this size (12x12)

So cut it down!  WORKS a treat!
Dont worry on wastage, the left over will come in handy for any more smaller sized sleeves or see-through pockets - and the sewing machine (big smile).  At least this time I didnt need any sewing machine!

I did have to repunch the holes, and in the scheme of things, no one is going to notice these extra holes when looking at the completed album (hopefully) they will disappear into the background!

Decorating the photo page....  Little sequin stars are placed on top of each tree

The word 'believe' is really appropriate to place there.... all we have to do is imagine and believe the little scene!

Have a think about how you can be resourceful for those days without photo or subject...
We would LOVE to hear your ideas!

Bec's 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th..........

2nd Dec......................
I didn't have many photos for this day so I wrote down a list of our favourite Christmas movies.

3rd Dec......
My daily numbers are in the circles which I cut out on a friends Cricut machine. I also had to put in another drawing that Tana drew of her and Tinsel going for a walk.

My parents went away and I had to feed their dogs and this one was so sad that they weren't home.
The bottom of the page is also another cut but from a Silhouette Cameo. Oh how easy my life is now.

4th Dec....
Tinsel is giving Santa a hug and the bottom is the back of the previous page's cut out.

5th Dec....
Another Elf on the Shelf pic. And the hail and storms we had on the day and it's supposed to be summer.
The bottom pic is of Tinsel suffocating in my craft glitter. Reason being, last year Tana touched Tinsel and she lost her magic. We had to write a letter to Santa asking for some special magical recovery dust to give her, her magic back. We received a letter back with some glitter to sprinkle on Tinsel.
So Tana thought that my craft glitter would do the trick.
It is still EVERYWHERE through the house!!!!

Another Tinsel shot when we found her in the fridge. Some filler cards I pre made and a photo of Nelson Mandela recording his death.

My little pirate made some cupcakes today. Here I used the Rhonna Designs app on my phone to add the text to the photos.

Deb's December 2nd, 3rd and 4th.........

DEC 2.......   We have a set of wooden cats in the entrance and each Christmas they get "decorated" by one of the grandchildren.   This year the littlest one decided they needed to wear the Santa hats that I put out for some photo taking.   The cats  have been given the title of the Woody family - Dad, Mum and baby Woody.  For the background I've simply sanded back some embossed cardstock.

DEC 3.......... Each year I give the grandchildren a special decoration for their tree, usually on the 1st, but a couple of days late this year.  Hopefully when they are all grown up they will have a little box of treasures to pass down.

and DEC 4.........All the catalogues that we are being inundated with at this time of year.  I must admit I do enjoy them.

and then opposite,  I made an envelope for the 4th as well with a little note inside about an award our grand-daughter received.

Julie's Dec 1st 2nd & 3rd

For the first time ever, I have scrapped each day's events each night and am up to date.  And already, today's are printed ready to do tonight!

Day 1
It's all about the Christmas tree and decorations, and getting a photo or two.
Day 1 has two sides to it:
Here is the front.

And the back.
I wasn't planning on doing the backs of my December Daily cards but as we started a new tradition last year taking photos each day,  thought this year's December daily would be in two parts and will explain more a little later.

Day 2

Day 3

Now to explain what I am doing with the other side of my December Daily cards:
'Hoot', a Christmas owl that came out of hibernation with the tree - my twist on 'Elf on a Shelf'.   Asher and I had a heap of fun with him last year with both of us taking turns leaving notes for each and hiding him for the other to find in the morning. This year he's back and being very cheeky. So 'Hoot's' antics are being scrapped on the back of my December Daily cards.

Day 1 of Freedom.
He got into Asher's Lolly stash.

Day 2 of Freedom
Asher brought home this book from the library at school which has given me the idea that Hoot is going to try his best to rule the roost this Christmas.

Mandy's Dec 2nd & 3rd

http://teacupofscrapisms.blogspot.com.au/

Here's my Day 2 & 3!

And for these two days , I've used a vellum pocket and some Christmas Washi Tape for front and back..

Because the vellum pocket is fragile, framing it with washi tape reinforces it.
The holes have been punched for the rings through the washi (to keep it stronger), then folded down  the top edge and placed three photos inside.

There's journaling on the back of each of the photos

It's a great effect to see the photo through the vellum...

Once the pocket had been turned over to reveal the back, all that can be seen is the journaling.
This needs covering up....

Nothing that a photo cant cover up and an old piece of dressmaking pattern paper
(of a Christmas tree- lucky!)
These also gives further reinforcement to the vellum.
Yesterday Hannah and I found some packed away decorations as well as our Santa hats!

Yet to think about a photo or subject for today...
but I'm sure something will appear!

Bec's Dec 1st Page

Yay!!! Its the 1st of December and we could put our tree up and I could get started having fun playing with my Dec Daily album.

My very first page is a page of little pockets or shaker pockets. Just little bits of anything that will fit inside the pockets. It was a full 6x8 pocket that I stitched straight down the middle and added 3 different colours sequins to and the word life stitched onto the other side. I then sewed across the middle sealing off the bottom pockets and added some more sequins and a gold star button to one side and a flat wooden holly piece to the other.

This is a page I made for the album as I didn't want to just have the pockets but incorporate my full pages that I normally do in all my past Dec Daily albums.
This pocket is for the letters to Santa to sit in.

And this is when our Elf, Tinsel, arrived back from the North Pole bringing a book about Santa Coming To Australia. Tana also took a photo of her pink bear chatting with Tinsel. If you want to read about Elf On The Shelf you can read it here.

Trimming the tree!!! Oh what fun it was and unfortunately may be my last with my non compliant 13 year old and posing for photos.
And I just realised they are wearing the perfect matching colours!!! Honestly I did not plan that. Thats just what they were wearing!!! Lucky!

More tree trimming and a little note about how my 13 year old didn't really want to decorate the tree but helped in the end. Just secretly.........I think he did it for Tana and I. Love him to bits.

Tana had drawn a picture of Tinsel and how could I not include that. Too cute.

All excited about Christmas and losing her first tooth. She really gets into the spirit.

How did your first day go?

Deb's Dec 1st Page.........

Like a lot of people I put my tree up on Dec 1 so that was to be my page for that day.  We also have a little "real" tree in a pot outside so I wanted to create a scene type page to show both trees.

We love to share some of the lovely albums submitted so take a look at

Mandy's Dec 1st Page.....

http://teacupofscrapisms.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/our-beautiful-world-project-life-lets.html

I'm so excited to show my first page:
'Dec 1st'

I had to have Paige at the airport by 8am this morning... so that gave photo opportunity early!
Plenty of time to get it scrapped for Day One!
This is the inside of the front cover....

Before and after it was gesso-ed!
Had to get that pattern down a little (wink) but didnt want to lose the panelled door look.

Paige has gone to help out at many charities for the underprivileged:
A happy Angel...

How has your start to December been?
Have you got your first photo or subject?
