Lizzy's Day 1

It's been a busy start to December for me. But today I've caught up!
On the left side of my 1st page, the inside cover,
I stuck a paper bag already decorated that had been gifted
to me. It's so beautiful & I thank Kathleen Wilson VERY much:)
I decided to pop a little letter in about WHY I was doing this album.
I'd also been given some number stickers from Mary Bennetts, & realised a number '20' & '16'
made it into 2016. That was useful! The typewriter image is from our local
Reject Shop. Marked down to 50c for 6!
On the other side, I used digital files from the Becky Higgins PROJECT LIFE App
I have on my iPhone. It's a 'cherish' card from the 'DREAMY EDITION' kit.
I simply print them from my iPhone, via my wifi printer at home.
Then I used my STASH [go me!!!] to decorate the card.
The arrow was a 'bauble' die cut. I'm not being precious. I wanted that paper,
& decided to cut an arrow out of it. Then I THREW THE LEFT OVERS AWAY.
Yes. I am YELLING. This feels good. Use it, then lose it ;)
My completed 'intro' pages spread:

Next up is Day 1.
Initially I thought I'd only use 1 page per day. Whoopsies.
Took 2 pages to scrap my 1st day. Oh well. I kept spare pages in the book.
So that's OK!
Sticking with the black & white photos. Although it's HARD.
I'm a writer. I'm writing directly onto my iPhone, & also printing straight from
my computer. Then cutting out the sentences to 'fit' my page:
Yes! There are silver snowflakes on these pages,
from Marie-Christine from LAST year.
They're cute, but in Australia it doesn't snow at Christmas. So I took a deep
breath, & simply plonked them on the page as decoration:
To get my smaller photos, I also use the Project Life App by Becky Higgins.
You can pop 2, 4 or 6 photos on a 4x6 photo sized card. This one is a 4 per card
size. Then you print, and cut up! You can pop them onto a usb to be printed, but
doing them at home means I have more chance of keeping up with my DD.
I backed the photos with some stash wrapping paper:
You can see I'm keen on writing ON my photos, too.
Partly 'cos the background paper is quite 'busy'.
Mostly 'cos that's what I like to do! The Stampin' Up or American Crafts journaling
pens write well on the glossy surface.
As you can see on Day 2 below, left:
The other thing that works for me is making little 'flip' folders.
You simply run some washi tape between your photos [I use glue as well,
cos washi tape has a habit of NOT sticking terribly well].
On the left hand side, I've made one and journaled on the inside as well:
Excuse my big toes getting in on the act. Had to hold it open somehow!
Note the little stapled star cluster underneath? I repeated this element on
the other page [Day 3] for continuity.
You'll also notice with the little alpha stickers below, I'd run out of  the letter 'e'
so used the number 3s instead. The 'i' is a 'j'...strangely, I don't think it looks
at all odd. Did YOU notice??
I could go on and on with all the little bits I've added. But you've
been remarkably patient if you've gotten this far.
One last thing. Notice this photo has been altered with red arrows?
That's my 'LITTLE MOMENTS' App for iPhone by Fatmumslim.
It has LOTS of different effects you can use. And it's a fave.
Like this 'transparent' effect that I've used for the arrows, below:
Last but not least, a big thanks to Lizzy Crust, for sending me some extra
Christmas bits from HER stash that she thought I could use. I already have!

So, have you started?
We would love to see your DD's.

Jane's Day 1

After all the preparations at last it's time to get going and share a page - well a few pages actually as I've done a couple of title pages as well as Day 1.

Mmm, three title pages, gradually increasing in size.  I started with this gorgeous Christmas tree stamp because - well just because I love it - and it was the perfect fit for my advent photo challenge to be adhered on the back.

Next up was a little poem that always make me feel Christmassy. When the pages are closed the third page's 2016 shows down the right hand side and the first page's tree allows the poem to be seen.

Here's the first two pages all opened up.

On the back of the middle page I've adhered my 2016 weather chart. I always include this in my DD album I suppose because it's fun to compare temperatures from year to year, but mainly because it's become a bit of a habit!

Here's my largest page

And here's what's on the back of it - my December planner with a few things already written in.  Facing the large page is my 2016 manifesto or you could say my intentions for the season.

A closer look at my intentions. This was created using photoshop elements and Katie Pertiet digital supplies available from Designer Digitals.

And now on to my first proper page - yes it really is December 1st! So I started by gathering all my supplies - a die cut deer and leaf border, a stamp set, the number and a journal card.

I started by stamping the splatter, adhering the journal card and number to my backing paper.

The deer and leaf border were added next.

And finally some gems and my journalling.

Here's today's photo. The border was created using photoshop elements and the embellishments are Katie Pertiet digital supplies available from Designer Digitals.

I added a trio of die cut stars to the empty space on my photo and I was done. And it feels good to get the first page under my belt!

Well I'm hoping that maybe I've inspired you to play along with us here at Let's December Daily. Here's the links you'll be needing:

Deb's Day 1.

My inside cover was in need of some repair.....

A little bit of glue did the trick.  I haven't yet decided what I'm doing here......treading very carefully in this book, so that I don't cover anything unnecessarily and lose the "look" of the "little golden book".  I think I'm going to be "backtracking" quite a bit as I look back and see that maybe I can add a little bit more when it feels right.

So with that out of the way, I wanted to add a little explanation, on the first page, about the book belonging to me as a child and my reason for upcycling.  I thought typing this would tie in better rather than handwriting.  The bottom of the page seemed the best place for it.

The only other thing I have added to this page is a very simple frame, cut to fit around the title and bells.

Turning the page and still not wanting to add too much to cover anything that might be relevant to the
book, I've simply made a little banner for under the picture and added December 2016. You can see a little tear down on the bottom corner.....this was fixed by glueing my typed piece to the bottom of the previous page.  It's strengthened it up perfectly.

AND AT LAST..........Day 1 of this year's December Daily.  A page cut from vanilla cardstock and inked around the edges.   I've decided to add in some more Christmas carols/songs that aren't in the book and especially ones that I love.  You know the ones that you can't get out of your head at this time of year.  It may not be the whole song, just as much of it that will fit in with the happenings of the day.

This year I wanted to add the day to the date.  There has been quite a few times when I've been looking through my previous December Dailys and I think to myself "What day was that?".  I've typed up a list of dates on some spare cardstock ready to add to the page.

So as I open my little book, this is how the first page is looking.......

Have you taken a photo or made some notes about your day today?  I've taken photos and will have some fun later on creating my Day 2.
How is everyone going with their December Dailys........we would love to see them.

We'd love to see them!

Mandy's Day 1

Oh My Gosh!!!
Its HERE!
1ST OF DECEMBER!

Are we ready???

Time to fill/make those pages!!!

I've got my first page done, and I couldnt resist going straight for the transparency!
The transparency looks great with the black inside cover behind it!

Even though old Blackie isnt well, he gave me this lovely expression this morning,
perfect for the first page(dont forget to include your family pets in your December Daily)
So added the wording with my photoshop elements.
He obviously couldnt see what all the fuss was about !

I actually had a great run this morning with photographing the transparency,
I usually have a grand battle with reflections and glare!!  With the latter always winning!
Placed the photo in the middle of the page.......

I really love this Basic Grey Jovial Doily diecut and decided that this will be the cover page.

I'm not at all sure what to do with it yet, but the 1st of December transparency page will sit behind it.
Do you see something peeping through?????  That was accidental!

Here's a closer look....LOVE it!  Blackie is so shy, this is perfect for him!

Because I'm basing most of my December Daily on Basic Grey's 'Jovial' Collection, out came a great Star die because this will make a lovely group of various sized stars to go under the photo.
There is only two sheets of 'Jovial' (Merrymaker, Nice) here - the photo shows the reverse sides of the paper too which I've used four different patterns for the page.

The 'Jovial' paper matches well with the 'Jovial' strip of fabric on the page's edge.
The stickers are from the 'Jovial' Elements sheet too. Then, its a matter of adding a number!
For the reverse side of the transparency, I'm pretty sure I'll match up another photo on the other side, use some more stars, the tag and number shape so that there arent any odd bits sticking out looking unfinished when viewing through it either side

Just lifted this up to get a 'see-through' look and the reflection has arrived! UGH!
But you get what I mean! LOL

 Whoohoo!  Day One done!
(does look better with the black under it :) )
